Eric and I climbed all the way up to the doughnut at Doughnut falls! We had to get our feet wet, but it was WAY COOL to stand in a cave and see the water gushing through a hole in the ceiling. The only down part was having to walk through the water in our sneakers :(
This was one day before the big accident... dun dun dun! I've been thinking about Kate Kelly's excommunication and wondering, why don't we talk more about the power of motherhood and how it parallels to the priesthood rather than fatherhood (and not just how it pertains to our own offspring)? To think that women don't have as much or more spiritual power as men is SO ridiculous to me. We speak so often on how men must work diligently to maintain the power of the priesthood, but I have always been inspired to believe that women have been spiritually gifted with an innate gentleness and propensity for empathy and compassion. Since I have seen so many women struggling with their feelings of gender inequality, I am wondering why I haven't seen any one make a point to highlight the innate spiritual powers gifted to women. Though I use the word "motherhood," here I believe that as a woman you don't have to experience "parenthood," in order to shine your light and show your love in ways that I just don't think come naturally to men. I believe that the gift and spiritual power of Motherhood is trusted to all women, making it equal to, if not more integral, than the Priesthood. To ignore this is to denigrate the role of women in the church. For these reasons, I do not appreciate Ms. Kelly's exploitation of current feminist emotions. For in this situation, the feminine power is not lacking. Quite the opposite. Am I wrong? I guess I am going through a little ballerina phase... The little outfits are just so darn cute to draw!! :)
Today at lunch I had some fun doing some little outfit sketches that I kind of want to wear. Like a lot. But at least sketching them and imagining is cheaper than shopping to get my fashion fix, no?? lol
